For the artists and writers amongst us, working in an office environment can check the imagination rather than facilitate it, so finding a creative space in which to do your office chores will always be a bit of a challenge.

Making an office work for you is one of the main tasks in hand when running a business and creating an office space that relaxes rather than stresses is very much a part of this. Whether this applies to coffee on tap to immediately charge batteries; well styled office furniture that is not only good to look at but is comfortable and functional too; reliable technology that doesn’t continually let you down and attractive stationery that says much about your individual style; finding the correct balance is essential.

Fitting out an office can be fun, like setting up a home. After all it may be where you are to spend quite a lot of your time. If you have a reception area, make it look stylish and comfortable. After all, this is where your clients will wait until you are ready to see them and they will take time to have a good look around. Choose office furniture that is not only serviceable but streamlined and well designed, again giving thought to an overall style rather than something haphazardly put together. The stationery you use will always come back to haunt you where clients will bring letters and quotations with them to meetings, so choose well, and pick good looking, well designed and up to the minute technology that will not let you down at a crucial point in any negotiations.

Make office life as comfortable as you possibly can where moving out of this space will be as easy as going from the studio or drawing board to the comfort of an armchair.

We at Supplies Web can provide our clients with the office supplies they need to create an inspiring yet functional office environment.

When running a business, having to stop to shop for office supplies can be a bit of a chore. Yet the more you do it, the more you realise what a complex area you are entering and that getting it right will mean prosperity for your business.

Whether you shop for cleaning supplies, office furnishings, printer ink, office furniture, general stationery, paper or computer equipment, when looking through your supplier’s online catalogue the choice that is on offer is staggering. Although during this recession, most people have to tighten belts, having a well stocked office keeps the heart of your business alive. However as with most things in life, it is easy to get carried away, so buying sensibly as well as inventively is important.

Buying office supplies competitively can often mean shopping around, but this takes time which is better utilised elsewhere. If you have a good office supplies company that tends to stock most of what you want, use price matching strategies to get good deals. Most office supplies companies operate a price matching policy and will be pleased to give customers the price that they want in return for their loyalty. Loyalty also brings its own rewards where customers regularly receive loyalty discounts and premature special offers. Many companies now have aggressive pricing policies and base their businesses on putting customers first to keep themselves afloat.

Spending on office supplies can mount up quickly, particularly if you are refurnishing and refurbishing the office and restocking office technology and machines. Many companies specialise in providing office supplies priced at the cheaper end of the market and can supply top quality alternatives to branded goods.

Keeping a well stocked office means keeping staff happy. We at Supplies Web carry a comprehensive selection of all types of office supplies competitively priced so that our customers can afford to keep the heart of their businesses pumping.

More and more of us are working from home. In some ways it can be a liberating rewarding experience, but in many others it isn't the working nirvana we were promised. As anyone who has wasted valuable time watching Diagnosis Murder instead of finishing that important report will testify.

One of the biggest problems facing the home worker is a lack of space. And if you don't a dedicated office you can end up working in the kitchen or the living room. Where temptation and distraction lurk. The V, the family dog, interruptions from the kids or just another trip to fetch a sandwich. Where did all the time go? Lighting is another problem. Who wants to sit and work under harsh artificial lights all day. It's no wonder then, that more and more home workers are turning to garden offices for a better solution.

So goodbye to cramped working conditions and distractions and hello to peace and quiet and natural light. Garden offices can be one or two buildings. It just depends if you want a bathroom too. If you're budget allows it's a great idea. They are built for purpose with everything you need to do your job, rather than adapting living space that isn't always ideal for work.

Many workers report productivity gains when they switch to garden offices. Their focus and concentration improves almost immediately, thanks in no small part to the peace and quiet. People relish having a separate work space away from the main home, even if it's only at the bottom of the garden.

So if noise, lighting and lack of focus is getting you down. Consider joining the garden offices revolution and transform your home working experience. No more missed deadlines and frustration with the added bonus of a little walk to work down the garden path.

Labelling machines are used for a variety of uses, mainly to apply labels and add decoration onto packaging containers and display items. Labels can contain a variety of information including bar codes and price information for the retailer and the consumer.

Labels are required for a number of other items including fresh or perishable goods. Such items require labels that are printed on demand to display price or weight. These labels are either printed in store or at a warehouse.

You will also find labelling machines being used to print labels for items that require protection. For example, some items require labels to ensure that they reach the consumer without being tampered with.

Which labelling machines are right for your business?

Depending on what your specific requirements are, this can be quite a difficult question to answer.
Central Vacuum from Centralvacsolutions.co.uk

Vacuuming is one of those tedious but necessary household chores. Top end vacuum cleaners can costs a lot of money and will need to be replaced or repaired every five years or so. Many people don’t realise there is actually a cost effective and easy to use alternative to portable vacuum cleaners. This is called a central vacuum system.

Central Vacuum Systems

Central vacuum systems can be fitted in your home for less than it costs to buy a top end vacuum cleaner. These systems are very easy to use and can add money to your home’s resale value. Central vacuum systems work in a similar way to portable devices. They remove dirt, dust and debris effectively from your floors and furniture. The main benefit of the central vacuum system is that the main power unit is housed in an out-of-the-way part of your home such as your cellar or garage. This means that all you will have to carry around with you is the lightweight hose and power brush head. All of the debris you pick up will also be sent through tubing into a simple central collection point. This means you do not have to worry about empting the vacuum every time you use it or replacing the bag.

How Central Vacuum System’s Work

The main power unit will be installed and then connected to various inlets around your home by tubing (installed discreetly through walls and crawl spaces). Then instead of plugging in a portable device all you need to do is plug your vacuum hose into the system inlet points. Once you have connected to the inlet point you can engage the inlet and then the power unit will provide a suction pressure that will suck any dust, dirt and debris out of the room and away to the disposal unit. This means you will not have to carry a vacuum around your home but instead simply plug the hose into the nearest inlet. Central vacuum systems only need to be emptied every three months or so. Central vacuum systems can improve the air quality in your home as they do not recycle dirty air as a portable vacuum will do.

Types of Central Vacuum System

There are two main types of central vacuum system, cyclonic and filtered. Cyclonic systems use a centrifugal force and gravity to separate dirt from the air sucked into the vacuum and deposit it into the waiting receptacle. Filtered systems use various filters made from materials such as cloth, foam and paper to separate the dirt from the air taken in by the central vacuum system. You will need to clean or replace filters regularly to ensure the system is still working effectively. If filters become too blocked it can place strain on the central vacuum system and this can cause parts to wear much more quickly or even damage them.

Workwear Clothing

In the 21st Century you will be hard-pressed to find a business that doesn't require its staff to wear specific workwear clothing. Below are 4 reasons why workwear clothing has become such a popular thing with companies from all over the world:

1. Safety - knowing your staff are protected is of utmost importance. Wearing the correct workwear clothing that will keep them either warm enough or cool enough is one reason why many companies provide clothing to their workforce.

2. Image - one of the main reasons all around the world for workwear clothing is to present a professional image of the company. Having your staff turn up for work in casual clothing will not provide the same impact as if they were all in the same, smart clothing every single day. It's also great for brand awareness with the logo on the clothing - how many people will see your employees on their way to work? These little things all add up and can often increase the reputation of your brand.

3. Staff Values - providing your staff with work clothing will help them feel more valued by the company. It shows that you care because you have invested in new clothing for them, and will help to increase their motivation.

4. Durable Clothing - when purchasing workwear, make sure you don't try and save money by getting inferior quality materials. In fact, this will do the complete opposite and will most likely end up costing you more than you would have spent on better quality clothing!

These are just 4 of the many reasons why you need to have the correct workwear clothing. Now you know why you need the right clothing, make sure you find quality products and low prices by checking online to save both time and money.

The steel making process converts brittle iron into steel, which is tougher and stronger. This process involves the lowering of the carbon content in steel from 4% in liquid iron to 0.1%- 1% in liquid steel.
Raw materials and ironmaking

Iron ore is extracted from mines around the world and is the key raw material in the production of iron. Iron ore is a mixture of various iron oxides such as haematite and magnetite

Ironmaking

Iron ore is converted to iron by reducing the oxides to metallic iron usually by contact with a reducing gas. The reaction takes place at high temperature in a blast furnace producing molten iron.

The blast furnace currently produces over 90% of the world’s iron. Direct reduction accounts for almost all of the remainder.
Steelmaking

The next step in the process is steelmaking. This takes the iron ore and converts it into steel, which is a tougher and stronger material.

The conversion from molten iron to steel primarily involves lowering the carbon content from approximately 4% in liquid iron to 0.1%-1% in the liquid steel.

For approximately the last 30 years, the predominant process has been the Basic Oxygen Steelmaking or BOS process. This accounts for 60% of the world's steel production.
Secondary steelmaking

In order to achieve steel in the exact composition required for the many different applications, there is an additional step required in the steelmaking process. This is known as secondary steelmaking.

After the molten steel is tapped into a ladle from a furnace, the Basic Oxygen Steelmaking (BOS) is usually given one or more extra treatments including:

    * Ladle Stirring
    * Vacuum Degassing
    * Ladle Arc Heating

Some high-grade steels combine all of these treatments. These processes do the following:

    * Improve homogenisation of temperature and composition
    * Allow composition to be controlled to exact specifications
    * Remove unwanted gases and impurities

Steel finishes and specification factors

Steel is coated with a variety of metallic and organic coatings for decoration and corrosion protection

These coatings provide a more cost effective and lower maintenance alternative to painting the final product

Steel intended for roof and wall panels, fencing, furniture and other applications is treated with a flexible paint coating to withstand manufacturing processes such as cutting used to create the end product

Specification Factors

    * Corrosion resistance
    * Aesthetic performance
    * Robustness
    * Maintenance requirements
    * Guarantee

Unlike other construction materials:

Steel is 100% recyclable. Steel can be repeatedly recycled without degradation of performance. The intrinsic value of scrap steel ensures that it is efficiently recovered. Steel is widely recognised as easy to disassemble and segregate. Steel is the most recycled material in the world.
Recycling of pre finished steel

Typically 25% of the total charge to the steel-making vessel is steel scrap (approximately 75T). Controlled charges containing 9.5T of plastisol coated steel were added to assess possible impact upon the process. Emissions measured at primary and secondary fume extraction systems to demonstrate no additional burden from recycling of pre-finished steel.

Most construction waste should be recycled to re-enter the supply chain at the manufacture stage if it cannot be re-used.

Research suggests that 84% of construction steel is recycled with only 6% of steel cladding entering landfill. This means the cost of recycling and disposal for built-up and cladding systems varies significantly.

The main aim is to recycle as much material as possible, which requires effective separation of the steel components from the remainder of the system.
The Lackenby Steel Plant

The Lackenby Steel Plant was built in 1953 and incorporated over 20,000 tonnes of structural steel work. The plant remained in production for 20 years before becoming a material storage facility. In 2004 it reached its end of life and was demolished.

100% of the steel was recovered and recycled. This saved enough energy to supply 3700 households with their energy requirements for a year.

The new steel was manufactured as sections, plates and strip and used in a wide range of new products including parts for Heathrow Terminal 5, a new stand at The Oval cricket ground and light steel framed houses.
